Our Services
Our Mission:
Dedicated to the compassionate and competent care of your pet, we, at the Broad Ripple Animal Wellness Center, strive to provide the highest standards of integrative veterinary medicine by quality client relations, preventative health-care and continuing education of our staff.
Through your pet, we are able to form friendships that last a lifetime. This is the realization of our ultimate goal.
Broad Ripple Animal Wellness Center is a state-of-the-art integrative veterinary medicine center. We offer preventive health care services as well as advanced holistic and integrative medicine services. Take a look below at a sampling of the services we can provide for your special friend.
Acupuncture
Veterinary acupuncture is a healing science, which deals with the individual animal as a living energetic being, rather than simply as a catalogue of signs and symptoms. Effective veterinary acupuncture practice is based upon both the natural and scientific aspects of healing.
Veterinary acupuncture is a technique for relieving pain and improving the function of various systems of an animal’s body via stimulation of the proper reflex points.
Advanced Pain Management
We strongly believe that our special friends should never suffer needlessly. In addition to the obvious humane reasons, a pet that is in pain takes longer to heal. We insist on the best and most comprehensive pain management possible for our patients and as such we strive to prevent, recognize, and minimize pain at every level of care.
Animal Communication
Animal communication is to the animals what sign language is to the hearing impaired. It is a non-verbal form of communication that opens the door to a new understanding of a client’s relationship with their pet. Trained Animal Communicators have assisted in determining the causes of behavior and performance problems, guided clients in finding lost pets, aided clients and veterinarians in pinpointing health problems, and facilitated emotional healing during the grief process following the loss of a pet.
Behavioral Medicine and Counseling
Illness doesn’t always have a physical cause and the sad truth is that more dogs and cats are put to sleep because of behavioral problems than are put to sleep because of disease and injury. Good behavior can help make your pet safer and more enjoyable, but it takes an effort on your part—and we can help. Members of our staff are trained animal behaviorists who help determine the cause of disorders such as separation anxiety and obsessive behavior, and then develop a treatment regimen. We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling, and aggression.
Food Therapy
Food Therapy is one of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is the practice of healing using natural foods along with or instead of medications. Recipes are tailored for individual pets, using select ingredients along with herbs. Food Therapy can be used to improve overall health and wellbeing, to treat disease, and to complement the primary treatment for diseases such as otitis, urinary crystals and stones, cancer, urinary tract inflammation, irritable bowel syndrome, renal failure and liver failure.
Immunization and Wellness Care
Preventive care is the easiest and most effective way to keep your friend healthy and happy. A complete semi-annual physical exam is the cornerstone of great pet care, and immunizations offer important protection against common and sometimes deadly diseases. Our doctors don’t follow a ‘one size fits all’ protocol for preventive health care, but rather treat each patient as an individual and recommend the best possible protocols for that particular pet.
Massage Therapy (Canine)
Massage, and the use of touch for health and wellness, is a universally developed and recognized healing technique. Touch elicits change within a body. It is an ancient powerful gift you bring to your animal. Massage is about change within the muscle tissues, not about ‘fixing a problem’. Because of the health promoting qualities of massage, it is recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association (A.V.M.A.) as a great alternative therapy for animals. Massage is a non-invasive technique using the hands to manipulate muscle tissue. It can be defined as any systemic form of touch, which has been found to give comfort and promote good health. Relaxation, relief from excitability or pain can all be achieved through the application of different massage techniques.
Microchipping
One of the most important things you can do to protect your pet is to assure its identification. A frightening number of pets enter the animal shelter system each year simply due to the fact that animal control has no means by which to return a pet to it’s loving home. Collars and external tags are helpful, and should be used, but can fall off (or be taken off). Microchips are a permanent form of identification. A small chip the size of a grain of rice is implanted under your pets skin in the same manner as giving a vaccine. The chip contains information about your pet and can be read using a special scanner. We will supply you with the means to register your pet’s microchip information with a national database. Most veterinary hospitals and animal control agencies have these special scanners and will use them to attempt to identify stray pets. We use ResQ microchips.
Nutritional & Dietary Counseling
A good diet is important to your pet at every stage of its life. We can help you determine what type of diet your pet needs – whether he’s growing, needing to lose weight, or fighting a particular illness. For your convenience, we carry a large assortment of high quality pet foods including The Honest Kitchen, Nature’s Logic, and Royal Canin Veterinary diets.
Radiology
Our on-site, modern radiology (X-Ray) equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. We also are fortunate to have the services of a Board Certified Radiologist on staff to help assure the proper interpretation of this diagnostic tool.
Reiki
The healing art of Reiki addresses life energy imbalances to support good health and wellbeing. It is a non-intrusive method of hands-on healing that taps into the energy referred to by philosophers and martial artists as ki in Japan, chi in China, and prana in India. Reiki is not massage, hypnosis, or a tool for diagnosing illness. It is a technique that addresses both chronic and acute conditions, gently and powerfully promoting balance among all the body’s systems. |
